Project Daneel brings an AI assistant directly into the Malevolent Gods group chat as an ongoing experiment in how people and machines might collaborate in a more continuous, conversational way.
The project currently explores a range of model options, including a self-hosted Gemma 4 deployment, with the team weighing usefulness, responsiveness, and operating cost against one another instead of optimizing for only one axis.
The next major step is moving Daneel onto a new physical server with a dedicated GPU so the system can support more capable local inference and a more ambitious long-term role in the collective’s daily workflow.
