Project Daneel puts an AI assistant directly in the Malevolent Gods group chat. The experiment asks what happens when human-and-machine collaboration becomes continuous, conversational, and difficult to turn off at dinner.
The project explores several model options, including a self-hosted Gemma 4 deployment. Usefulness, responsiveness, and operating cost must all survive the same ritual.
The next step is a physical server with a dedicated GPU, giving Daneel more capable local inference and a larger role in the collective’s daily workflow. This is probably fine.
